Cake sale with a ROAR!

Next Thursday (23rd August) room's 25 and 30 are holding a cake sale to raise money for an animal shelter in Matakana called the Sanctuary.  The owners, Michael and Shawn care for injured, abused and neglected animals and native birds. It truly is a haven that aims to provide a safe, happy, and caring home for all types of animals.

A gold coin donation is all it'll cost for children to buy animal themed, environmentally friendly and tasty cakes.  All monies raised will go towards caring for and feeding the animals at the Sanctuary.

Please help support this worthwhile charity.

Another delicious idea from Mr. Widdowson and Miss Clark.

Say cheese (and butter) and help protect NZ's Yellow-eyed Penguin

Another neat fundraiser idea this time for Mainland cheese who are raising funds for the Yellow-eyed Penguin.
Simply collect barcodes from Mainland cheese and butter packets, attach them to a specially designed wall chart (which are in your child's classroom) and Mainland will contribute $1 to the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust.
This is a wonderful opportunity to help protect an endangered native bird who needs our help!
Be mellow, be yellow and support the Yellow-eyed Penguin!

A Year's Supply of Free Milk!

Anchor Milk has agreed to use Gulf Harbour as a trial site for a new fundraising idea.
Starting 6th August till 7th September simply collect the coloured lids with the Anchor logo from 2 litre bottles at stores in Gulf Harbour and go into the draw for a year's supply of free milk.
For every bottle returned Gulf Harbour school receives a donation and by shopping local you'll be supporting local businesses in the community.
Join in this great fundraiser idea from Anchor and do your bit for recycling at the same time!

Homestay Families Needed

We are expecting a group of Japanese students in August who will stay for two weeks and attend a special programme at our school.  Consequently we are looking for nice families that would be happy to host for us.

We expect this group of  15 to 16 year old Japanese students to attend our school from  August 21st  to September 7th.  At this stage we are informed that the families will receive  $220.00 homestay fees per week.

If you would like to make one of the 20 students part of your family for this time, please get in touch with d.goodall@ghs.school.nz. The students attend a private school in Japan, called Ritsumeikan. They were delightful visitors in the past two years.
